iKON, who has been doing their second arena tour this year since September.
Riding the momentum of the release of their first Japanese single, these seven boys animatedly discuss everything from BTS episodes from their Japan tour and new songs to their private lives, plus there are even couple talks!

A seven-member group born in 2015 from YG Entertainment’s survival programs WIN: Who Is Next? and MIX&MATCH. In September, 2015 they made their Korean debut, and in January of this year they debuted in Japan with the album WELCOME BACK. They drew 140,000 fans to their Japan tour at the beginning of the year. Their second national tour started in September. Moreover, with the release of their first Japanese single, DUMB & DUMBER, on September 28th, among other things, their popularity is skyrocketing.

“While looking out at the fans I felt that we were really lucky” (Junhoe)
Congratulations on the release of your Japanese single, DUMB & DUMBER! To begin, please tell us the good things about the four songs in the single.
B.I: “DUMB & DUMBER” is an upbeat song with a strong sound that will really pump you up. The main point in the MV is us having fun and going nuts.
Junhoe: I think it’s our most iKON-esque song. There’s a kind of us messing around, funny feel to it, and rather than trying to be cool, it has more of us being our regular selves. And when we perform it, we make weird faces or go crazy…… Anyway, it’s filled with our youth.
B.I: And then with a completely different feel from “DUMB & DUMBER,” “#WYD” is a sweet song. We sing about the thrills of a heart in love.
Chanwoo: With this song we’re showing everyone a sweet, innocent side to us that we haven’t been able to show before. We’d love it if fans enjoyed the MV as well. Since we’re giving off a sweet vibe with the actresses (laughs).
The “#WYD” MV really is filled to the brim with your sweetness, isn’t it?
Bobby: We had a meeting before filming, and we all talked about the roles or concepts we wanted to have. So I think that’s probably why we were able to shoot scenes that suited each of and make something really good! Since there were some parts of the love scenes that required some courage, I also thought I did well filming while thinking about how I could relax and act naturally.
B.I: Everyone did so well at acting sweet that even I, a man, was ready to fall in love!
Bobby: (satisfied smile) Donghyuk played a kind, devoted boyfriend, and I imagined what it would be like if I were with him.
Donghyuk: (embarrassed laugh) Thank you! I like Jinhwan’s part! It’s a heartwarming situation that could happen in real life–like a scene from a drama, so it was good, right?
B.I: Junhoe’s “iKONIC is the girlfriend” part is good too, right!
Everyone: Yeah.
Junhoe was the only one who didn’t have a scene with an actress in the Korean MV, right?
Jinhwan: Ah~ Actually Junhoe had a love scene (laughs).
Junhoe: I did. It was cut (laughs). But it’s in the Japanese version, so be sure to check that one out!
Yunhyeong: I heard there’s a reason why it was cut. The director didn’t think it was that great for all the members to have a partner, so they were like “someone should have fans be the partner even if it’s only Junhoe” and released it that way. Plus, Junhoe’s solo scene came out really nice, so I think that might also have been a reason why.
Oh really.
Jinhwan: Also, we saved Junhoe’s couple scene for the Japanese fans, right?
Junhoe: Yes!!
Yunhyeong: Let’s just go with that (laughs).
B.I, Junhoe, and producers Choice37 and Kush all worked together to create “LOVE ME,” right?
B.I: After first making the Korean version, we recorded the Japanese version and felt like the Japanese version sounded better and fit perfectly…… We also thought the style fit Japan better, so we put it on this single! “LOVE ME” is like, how can I put it, it shows a man’s uglier side and his true feelings, and it’s a cute song that’ll arouse your sympathy!
Bobby: Yes yes. It shows us larger than life. Undoubtedly, it is us, iKON!
Yunhyeong: If you look at the lyrics it’s a bit sad and diffident, but if you listen to the melody, it feels bright and fun. It’s kind of like, this song shows you both light and dark sides.
Looking at the lyrics, it seems you’re singing about Junhoe…
Junhoe: Eh? Me? But we’re not…… (laughs)
Yunhyeong: Actually this song seems more like something Jinhwan-hyung would identify with (laughs).
Jinhwan: Well you’re wrong!! (laughs)
Junhoe: This is just what I think, but I think anyone who listens to this song can identify with it!
Jinhwan: Of course. All people–anyone–has to have had thoughts at one point like “why doesn’t this person love me?” so I guess everyone can identify with that, right?
Junhoe: It doesn’t matter at all if you’re cool or tall or whatever–if the person you like turns you down, anyone would feel the same, right!
Donghyuk: In any case, it’s an original Japanese song, so it’s special.
Now then, what kind of arrangement is “SINOSIJAK REMIX”?
B.I: We added an arrangement that would make it more exciting during performances.
Jinhwan: We made this version to show a new side to us that hasn’t been seen before. Anyway, I think you’ll be able to have fun if you listen to it.
“Sinosijak” means “start” and is from your own made up language, right? If you’ve come up with any more “iKON-ese,” please tell us!
B.I: Is there anything……? Kinda seems like if you just suddenly ask us, we won’t remember anything (laughs).
Junhoe: It isn’t iKON-ese, but lately we’ve been saying “kimoti,” haven’t we? (t/n: “kimoti” is a bastardization of “kimochi ii,” which means “feels good” in Japanese)
Chanwoo: Mm……
Junhoe: Why y’all pretending like you don’t know! (laughs)
Yunhyeong: That’s the thing from the Japanese game right?
Chanwoo: Rather than a game it’s from a Japanese character.
There’s a character that says “kimoti”? (laughs)
Chanwoo: It doesn’t say “kimoti” exactly but the pronunciation makes it sound like that.
Junhoe: People will think we’re otaku if we talk about it like this (laughs).
Yunhyeong: Whatever. All of us like Japanese games and characters anyway!
Chanwoo: We aren’t otaku! We just like games!
Jinhwan: If we come up with any new iKON-ese, we shall tell you at that juncture.
Anyway, are there any Japanese words that you use frequently when in Japan?
Bobby: I didn’t make it up, but I like the greeting “azassu!” I use it all the time! (t/n: “azassu” is a shortened form of “arigatou gozaimasu,” which means “thank you” in Japanese)
Jinhwan: (after thinking for a long time) Speaking of which…… There’s a word I used during the shows!
Junhoe: Yeah. I was wondering why you weren’t saying it (laughs).
Jinhwan: Yeah but……
Chanwoo: Be honest–it’s embarrassing to say so you didn’t want to, right? (laughs)
Jinhwan: So there’s “konnichiwa,” right, and I combine it with the chihuahua (chiwawa) to make “konnichiwawa.” (t/n: “konnichiwa” means “hello/good afternoon”)
Yunhyeong: Please say it with a pose!
Jinhwan: (while posing) Konnichiwawa~
Everyone: ……(can do nothing other than laugh awkwardly)
You did say it when you performed. Your second Japan tour began on September 10th with the Makuhari show. What are your thoughts since coming back after half a year?
Bobby: We wanted to see iKONIC JAPAN as soon as possible, so we came back as soon as we could! We had a show at Makuhari before so we were already used to the venue, which meant we could relax and have fun more than we could last time.
B.I: It was super hype! We set up the stage so that we could make eye contact with the fans and get deeper communication, but we were so close to the fans that I was the one who was nervous.
Junhoe: I was moved during “CLIMAX.” It was like I really felt like “oh my god, we’re singers……” Looking at the fans I was like “man I’m so happy……”
Jinhwan: We have a lot of songs that make us cry when we sing. Like “WAIT FOR ME” or “CLIMAX” or “LONG TIME NO SEE.” Singing those songs, something just hits you every time, you know?
Yunhyeong: They’re songs filled with memories, huh.
Bobby: Plus we had Mino from Winner as a special guest, so there was that big difference from before! Thanks to Mino I think we were able to show a different color on stage. When we performed as MOBB on stage for the first time, the fans’ screams were super loud so I got really hype.

On the tour this time you had a variety of events before and after the show, such as the rehearsal viewing, group photo, and official high touch. If you were to do other events, what kinds of things would you like to try doing with fans?
B.I: (while staring intently at Donghyuk) Donghyuk, whaddya think? You’ve got a lot of things you’re thinking about, right?
Donghyuk: (a bit troubled being stared at intently by B.I) We don’t have that many chances to come to Japan, and I feel like there are only so many things we can show them, so I think I’d like to try out “watchable radio” that iKONICs can watch whenever and wherever. I think it’d be fun if the members played games where they were on opposing teams…… I also want to eat with a small number of iKONICs!
B.I: (while patting Donghyuk’s shoulders like he did a good job) Ah~ as expected of Donghyuk! He said everything we’ve thought of.
Bobby: Donghyuk understands fans’ feelings best out of all of us, and he’s also really good at planning and implementing stuff!
Jinhwan: For me–it’d have to be just a few people–but I want to travel with fans.
Junhoe: Traveling, that’s kinda……
Jinhwan: C’mon, somewhere nearby would be fine!
Yunhyeong: Oh nice! I wanna have a barbecue!
Jinhwan: Just a day trip is fine too. I wanna eat together, set off fireworks……
Chanwoo: Rather than that, how about we go to a nice restaurant and have Jinhwan-hyung treat everyone?
Everyone: Sounds good!
Junhoe: (looks like he’s been thinking about this for a long time) Yeahhh I don’t think going on a trip would be so good.
Jinhwan: Why not! It’d be fun! Well, actually, I just wanna travel so that’s why I suggested it.
Yunhyeong: What (laughs).
Jinhwan: Fine then, let’s ask fans what they want to do with us. Like if they wanna eat with us or travel with us. If they say they wanna travel, will you guys go?
Everyone: Of course we would, god!
Jinhwan: What is this (laughs). So after all that you’d still do it. I wanna go on a trip with fans! You got a problem with that!!
Is there anything you want to do in Japan?
B.I: I want to take a picture in front of a sparkly ferris wheel. But I don’t wanna ride it.
Bobby: Cuz you’re afraid of heights (laughs).
B.I: Now that is just not true (laughs). I just think it’d be pretty if I took a picture in front of a ferris wheel……
Bobby: I wanna go somewhere with beautiful scenery. Like there are a lot of different places, but the countryside? That’s what I like. I wanna wander around a town that has an antiquated feel.
B.I: Could be nice to lie down while at a little house deep in the mountains while the rain is falling.
Bobby: Oh, good good. While just comfortably passing the time.
Seems like you guys want a rest (laughs).
Donghyuk: I want to rent out a little izakaya with the members and drink and talk about a lot of things. Since we don’t really have the chance to do that in Korea…… (t/n: An izakaya is similar to a pub, and you order drinks and small dishes there. Chains are often all you can eat/all you can drink.)
Bobby: Donghyuk, you’re still underage in Japan so we can’t do that!
Donghyuk: Ah, really! Then I’ll just wait a little longer (laughs). So we have to go after another year or two.
Bobby: Yeah!
Donghyuk: In that case, I shall change the venue! I want to go to Disney Land or to Fuji-Q Highland again with the members. I really love the attractions! But my only requirement is that it has to be with the members, so really, no matter where we go or what we do, I’ll be happy ♥
You guys really are close! You guys are so popular that it seems at any moment you’ll be able to perform at Tokyo Dome like you’ve been dreaming about, but even so, what do you feel still needs work?
Yunhyeong: First of all, I’ve felt this since watching a lot of Big Bang’s performances, but I thought what we really need to work on most is language. I think that if we can communicate, then fans will be able to understand us better, so I think we need to improve our Japanese ability.
Bobby: Also, our charisma on stage, maybe……
B.I: Presence too. But that will definitely get better with time! If we have a lot of different experiences and gradually mature, then everything should work out!
Bobby: If B.I says things will work out, then I feel like they really will!
Everyone: That’s right!
Jinhwan: For me, I think it’s also important for a lot more people to learn about iKON through the release of our new Japanese single. We’re gonna continue working hard at our Japanese activities so that one day we can have an iKON concert at Tokyo Dome!

It’s been a year since your Korean debut. Compared with a year ago, what about yourself has developed the most?
Whether it’s for the way I act on stage or the way I have pictures taken, from having acquired the knowhow for looking even cooler, I’ve found a cooler me! Out of the members, I think Yunhyeong has changed the most. In the past I think he really stressed over not making mistakes in the choreography or lyrics, but now I feel like he’s trying to have more fun!
Is there anything other members do that just makes you think, “This is a mystery”?
Yunhyeong is a huge neat freak. I have absolutely positively no idea how he can live his life being so clean (laughs). Even if there’s just like a little bit of stuff lying around the house, or like there are some leftover snacks out, he immediately starts cleaning up, grumbling the whole time. He’s like a mom (laughs).
So there are two moms in iKON, Jinhwan and Yunhyeong?
Umm, let me rephrase. I guess Yunhyeong is kinda like an older sister who nags a lot (laughs). He’s always yelling at us like “clean this crap up” or “why are you so damn loud!” Well, I accept that I’m kinda loud (laughs). He also asks me to try the stuff he cooks, but you have to be careful! Sometimes he gives you stuff that doesn’t taste good (laughs).
You’re called the manliest of men, so what you think is the most manly thing a man can do?
(after being a bit troubled) I suppose being a good man is pouring all of your love into the woman you like. Doing things to always make her feel loved. That’s what it is, without a doubt!
Your activities with Mino (from Winner) as MOBB were also popular, weren’t they?
Actually, I’ve been in Japan, so I haven’t really felt that…… For the recordings and MV shoots for MOBB and my solo stuff I had to go back and forth between Japan and Korea. Eventually the members noticed this more and more, and they reached out to me. They’re members who cheer me on with a love as deep as my parents’.
Now then, from these members who give you moral support, please choose one and tell us where and with whom you would go if you were to go on a trip with just the two of you.
Donghyuk! And Hawaii!! Donghyuk is a good, sweet kid, and if the older members say something like “let’s do it like this” he’s always immediately like “okay!” and gets to work right away. Plus he’s good at English. I’ve been to Hawaii once before with my father. It’s hot but not very humid so it’s easy to spend time there. There are also a lot of places to see there, so I’d like to go again.

Please love us a lot
What’s the toughest thing you’ve had to deal with so far as iKON’s leader?
Rather than there having been some awful incident, when a survival show ends or when like activities finish–whenever something is done, it’s rough. I feel like there’s a gaping hole in my chest, and then the more time passes after something is finished, I get impatient and feel like I have to do something, or like, I get anxious because I’m not doing anything…… Seems like I’m the type to get anxious when I’m not busy rather than when I am (laughs). That’s why I’m always trying to maintain a sense of peace!
When do you feel that it’s rewarding to be leader?
Umm~ It’s hard to say…… When we aren’t practicing or recording, we’re more like friends or brothers, so my role as leader isn’t really all that big (laughs).
It’s been one year since your Korean debut. Have there been any changes?
Of course we’ve improved our abilities, but I think we’ve also trained our minds. I feel that there are still things that need more work, and I am filled to the brim with motivation! But I don’t think we can say yet that we can relax. I think we can take it a little easier during performances, but other than that, not really. We’re working hard every day so that we can develop in a way that will allow us to relax a bit!
Beanies, like you’re wearing today, have become like a trademark for you.
(while adjusting his beanie) I wonder what the fans think…… I don’t think many of them like it (embarrassed laugh).
Who do you think has changed most since debut?
Yunhyeong maybe? I don’t know what other people who see us think, but within the team his presence has gotten a lot bigger, and in both work and life you could call him the team’s center. He’s like the sun!
Do any members do things that mystify you?
I don’t really think “I just don’t get this” about people, or like, I don’t really feel weird around them. Those kinds of thoughts don’t even enter my mind. Since I always keep in mind that everyone is different when I meet them, I accept everything–to a certain extent–and adapt to that person.
In the lyrics for “WELCOME BACK” and in your signature you often write “let’s go slowly, always, together,” but what is the meaning behind this phrase?
There aren’t a lot of human relationships that last forever, and most people are fated to just miss each other, right? I want the bonds between me, the fans, the members, and my family to continue forever. And not deep but short, and also without rushing–I want us to walk together slowly, together forever. (a little shyly) My thoughts on this haven’t changed.
How have you written lyrics lately?
I’ve always been the type to decide on the title first and then write the lyrics. If I get some sort of inspiration from my daily life, conversations, movies, or whatever, then I decide the title first and write lyrics that match that title. I’m writing a lot while touring now, of course. I don’t know how I can show everyone yet, but please look forward to it!

If you come to our concerts and beat me in rock-paper-scissors, I’ll grant your wish!! ♥
What do you think has changed about you compared with how you were at debut?
As you might expect, I think I’ve changed the most when on stage. There were so, so many things to show that had been prepared, but now I can be a bit more relaxed so now I feel like I can try out new things. Like now I can dance the way I want or add adlibs the way I want!
And what about the member who’s changed the most?
If I have to pick one person, then Chanwoo! He didn’t talk much before, but now when he’s with the members he takes the initiative to talk, he tells jokes–he’s really changed a lot.
He still has a quiet image when on stage though……
(while tilting his head to the side as if he wants to say he isn’t quite sure about that) No, no. That’s just because he isn’t good at Japanese yet. When he gets better at Japanese, (emphatically) I think he’ll be really funny. He has a good talk sense, and he always makes the members laugh too.
All seven of you live together, but do you like to keep things neat and tidy?
Me, not really…… Well, really, for me, I have too many clothes and the members are like “you have too many clothes, man, clean out your closet!”…… I have mostly hoodies. At one point I kept collecting hoodies from a brand I liked. But nowadays I’ve bought…… Ah! I love them so much, eventually I was like “I want a hoodie that no one else in the world has!” so I bought a simple hoodie and brought it to my older cousin. She’s an artist, so she drew something by an artist I like. I cherish this original hoodie!
You have the type of personality that heals others, but what heals you?
(squinting, while once again being modest) Calling me healing, what is this! I’m often comforted when I’m around other people, so the members and fans heal me. I read every fan letter I get! Coming to Japan also relaxes me somehow. In Korea we have practice and a lot of other things so we’re always busy, but when we come to Japan, we have the time to eat together or go bowling or play soccer so it’s fun–and honestly, it’s relaxing.

We heard that before you became a trainee you had no experience in singing or dancing. What did you do to reach the level you’re at now?
I joined the company at the same time as Junhoe, but the trainees who were already there–B.I, Jinhwan, and Bobby–were already super amazing…… There was a huge difference in our abilities so it was rough, but I think that made me try even harder to catch up sooner. Jinhwan taught me how to sing and like how to do natural gestures, and he gave me so much advice. I watched Jinhwan and mimicked him a lot.
Why Jinhwan?
At that time, Jinhwan looked the best to me. He made dancing look easy, but performing while moving your hands and doing the steps and singing at the same time is actually really difficult.
Compared with how you were one year ago when you made your Korean debut, what do you think has changed about yourself?
A year ago I always felt like I had to do everything well and couldn’t make any mistakes, but now I’m trying harder to have more fun on stage. Rather than thinking about my own mistakes, I mostly think about whether the fans are having fun.
And who do you think has grown the most?
Bobby, maybe? So he partnered with Mino from Winner and released a new album, right? When I saw that, I felt like even in such a hyped up song he was a bit restrained and has learned how to give off a cool vibe. (laughing happily as though he is pleased from the bottom of his heart at this change in Bobby) He makes much better use of this skill than before!
And is he aware of this?
By all means, tell him (laughs). In the past year I think Bobby has gotten the most cool!
Anyway, are there any members who do things that you just don’t understand?
There is indeed. Junhoe~ (laughs) He has a really optimistic, manly personality. Also, (in Japanese) he oversleeps (laughs). Always! I’m like “it’s better if I get up just ten minutes earlier to get ready” but Junhoe oversleeps every single day. It’s a bit of a mystery (laughs). Is it really that hard to get up ten minutes earlier?! Actually, Jinhwan is also late. But he’s different from Junhoe in that he can get up early when he needs to. But it’s after he gets up that’s the problem! He just stands in front of the mirror doing his hair or taking care of his skin. So for that reason he and Junhoe both happily come out late together (laughs). His self-care is just too good!
You seem like you’d often be the mediator if there are any arguments among the members.
B.I and Junhoe have strong personalities, so Donghyuk and I, as well as Jinhwan, are like a buffer. But we talk things out honestly and resolve them before any problems can turn into real fights, so we haven’t had any huge fights yet.
In any case, you still have to make up, so it’s better to just not have fights, right? But like little kids we squabble over little things. Like there’s one thing I remember that’s just so stupid I can laugh about it now, but around three months ago we fought about what to eat. We had time during an awards ceremony, so we were all like, “let’s eat”…… I wanted to eat gyoza, but some members complained like “ugh I don’t want any frikkin gyoza!” (laughs). In the end, I gave in and couldn’t eat gyoza (tears).

My skills in Japanese will grow the most out of the seven of us. (t/n: There was a blob on what he wrote, and the verb–from what I could make out–didn’t make much sense, so I just used a verb that did make sense and sounded similar to what he seems to have scrawled… but I’m honestly not 100% sure what he wrote.)
There are many weepy members in your group, but you don’t cry that much. Have you always been like this?
Even though I used to cry a lot as a kid, I changed after I started living separated from my parents. I thought my family and fans would get upset if they saw me crying, so I stopped crying in front of people. I do sometimes cry in front of the other members though. Like when the hyungs get mad at me (laughs). Me and Donghyuk and Junhoe are the youngest, so like if we don’t clean up or do something bad, sometimes the hyungs get mad. So when that happens I feel bad and cry (laughs). The last time I cried was–probably a really long time ago, but…… (suddenly remembers) Ah! It was six months ago when the seven of us went on a trip for a thing. I got really sad when I got the letter from my parents and just bawled……
What do you think has grown the most for you since debut?
Although we were guests on Big Bang’s tour a year ago, I didn’t have a lot of performance experience. But now we’ve done dozens of concerts, so now I know much better than before how to make myself look cooler!
And who do you think has changed the most this past year?
Yunhyeong I suppose. Like, how do I put this, he’s gotten freer than he was in the past. He used to like being inside and was like a hikikomori. When all of us would be trying to do something, as a joke he’d be like “ah~ this is annoying!” but now he’s like been liberated by something or something, and he’s more active (laughs).
Is there any member who is still doing something that’s like a mystery to you?
(a bit tentatively) This is also about Yunhyeong. We share the same room, and his snoring is kinda loud so it’s a teeny bit rough (laughs). But this kind of thing just can’t be helped!
Since you have acting experience, in your opinion, which member seems like he has good acting sense?
(after thinking for a while) Junhoe and Yunhyeong. I saw their acting for the first time during the shoot for the “WHAT’S WRONG” movie for our first concert, but they were good and impressive. It was a scene where they had a fight with a girl, but I think fans were able to identify with them, maybe?

What do you think has changed most about you compared to a year ago?
Are both good and bad things okay? Not worrying about how others see me. If people say nice things about you, then there are also going to be those who don’t, so now I’m able to just push onward the way I want without getting confused by the opinions of others. The member who I think’s changed the most is Chanwoo. His innocent image was really strong, but he likes joking around more than I thought and he thinks deeply about a lot of things. He also adapts to the older members, and there are more grown up sides to him.
Who does a lot of things that you just can’t understand?
(immediately) Bobby! His personality is completely the opposite of mine, so he does a lot of things that I think are strange. First of all he almost never cleans (laughs). Also, I’m an A-Type so I’m the type to overthink things, but Bobby doesn’t really worry about stuff. I’m jealous of that (laughs). When we first met we used to fight a lot, but now we never do. We know everything about each other, and I think that precisely because our relationship was built on fights, we have a strong bond.
Everyone adores you. What’s been the most memorable time someone has come to you for advice?
(after thinking for a while) There are a lot…… When Bobby was on Mnet’s survival show SHOW ME THE MONEY 3, I was just lying on my bed when he suddenly came in and was like, “I have no idea what I’m supposed to do. I want an objective opinion.” I understood his true feelings about being on a survival show, and I got really emotional.
And what’s a memorable time that you’ve been encouraged?
So I said that I’m the type to overthink things, right? When I was feeling down about a little thing, Chanwoo just happened to pass by and was like, “Don’t think too much about it.” I don’t know why but his words really helped me out, and I still remember how much better I felt.
Do you ever get mad at the members?
No, I don’t really get angry. Since I’m the type to scold them like a mother or change the way I convey things.
We heard a rumor that you and Donghyuk share clothes. Is it true?
Ahh, it isn’t like that! We have so much stuff at our house that our clothes are stored all over the place, not just in our own rooms. So when I see something I think is nice and wear it, a lot of times it turns out to be Donghyuk’s. I guess we like similar things.
Who do you think has good fashion sense?
B.I, who matches different styles of clothes and wears them well! It’s hard to match bright colors, but he looks good in like pink clothes. iKON’s official fashionista is Donghyuk, but I personally recommend B.I!

It’s been one year since your Korean debut. What do you think has changed most about yourself compared with one year ago?
First of all my hair color changed (laughs). Also, when I’m singing or when I’m on stage, I can perform more freely than before. Like a stream, so smoothly! This is because I’ve performed on many stages in various places in the world while touring.
And who do you think has changed the most this past year?
Mm~ I don’t think anyone has had any huge changes. Though I think I probably just haven’t noticed since we’re always together…… But all of us have grown, and I can say with confidence that iKON has leveled up!
Despite having lived together for so long, is there still anything about the members that you just don’t understand?
There is, there is! Yunhyeong’s love of neatness and the fact that he’s way too systematic (laughs). He’s completely different from me–in personality, lifestyle, and whatever else! I mean, I can survive even if my room’s a little messy (laughs). Yunhyeong is also more of an early sleeper, early riser, but I always go to sleep when it’s like dawn. Even the TV shows we like and the stuff we find funny are different! Lately I’ve been watching old episodes of the variety show Infinity Challenge on YouTube.
You’ve said that you have a “wild and free” personality, but what about yourself do you think is carefree?
I’m like that with music, and I’m like that in life…… I’m trying to master being carefree! I don’t really like fitting the mold…… I’m serious when I have to be, but being too serious just isn’t me. I wanna be carefree on stage too! Rather than doing things the way they’ve been decided, my motto is going with my feelings at the time and just relaxing and having fun on stage!
There are many pictures on the internet of you making weird faces, and it’s a hot topic among fans. Are they mostly deliberate rather than by accident?
(half-laughing as if he’s remembered something) Ahh~ Most of them are of me deliberately making weird faces, but some of them are coincidental, and I think there are some pictures that surprise everyone (laughs). I’ve looked at my pictures online a lot, but they’re funny even to me (bitter laugh). After looking at them for a while, I pretended like I didn’t see them and just ignored them though! (laughs)

When I first joined the company, the ones who approached me were Bobby and B.I, and I knew immediately they were rappers. They work really well together on stage, and whenever I see the two of them messing around, it looks like so much fun that I wanna join them.

B.I: Bobby-hyung’s charms–first of all, his smile. Also his powerful performances. Plus, the way he brings up the mood is charming too. He really has a lot.
Bobby: Thank you~ B.I’s charm is that he’s kinda dumb but is still cute. Also, he’s very charismatic.
If the two of you were to form a unit, what would your concept and unit name be?
B.I: We’ve worked together for the song “ANTHEM” on our previous album, but we’ve never promoted as a unit. That’s why we’re keeping everything a secret for when we do work together.
Bobby: That’s right.
B.I: I suppose it would be hip hop though.
Bobby: But it’s not like we only like hip hop, so we won’t limit ourselves by not including other genres.

The two of you are in charge of writing iKON’s music and lyrics. Have there been any times when you’ve thought the other’s way of thinking is different from yours?
B.I: Bobby-hyung writes the raps, and every time I hear them, they feel really fresh. You can really feel Bobby-hyung’s sense throughout this album, and I really enjoyed it.
Bobby: B.I is good at writing lyrics that people can identify with, and when I read his lyrics I’m always like “he really thought of some good stuff.” I admire that. I always identify with his lyrics.
By the way, when you have differences of opinion, how do you resolve them?
Bobby: We don’t really have disagreements. Why? Well first B.I comes up with an idea for a song. With that as like a hint, I write lyrics, and then B.I picks lyrics from what I’ve written that he thinks will fit the song.
The two of you make music together. Do you often talk?
B.I: No. Not really.
Bobby: Since the seven of us are almost always together.
B.I: There’s that, and even when it’s just the two of us, we hardly ever talk about work.

B.I: When I first met Donghyuk, he was fatter (laughs).
Donghyuk: I was fat back then… I lost about ten kilos during the Mnet survival show WIN: Who Is Next?. Anyway, my first impression of B.I-hyung was that he was really funny. Also that he’s gotta be a rapper for sure (laughs).
B.I has a funny personality, doesn’t he?
B.I: No, no, I’m not that funny.
Donghyuk: B.I-hyung just doesn’t realize he’s funny (laughs). That makes him even funnier. I’m sure he has absolutely no idea what he’s saying ever. That’s why you can laugh at him (laughs).
So B.I’s funny side is something that has to grow on you (laughs).
B.I: I have to grow on you. I’ll remember that.

B.I: First of all, Donghyuk has good fashion sense. Also, he has a beautiful voice. He’s gotten better at singing. Plus–though it’s not as obvious anymore–his jawline is quite lovely.
Donghyuk: Ahaha (laughs).
Why isn’t it as obvious anymore?
Donghyuk: (sounds extremely sad) I gained weight…… From eating so much.
B.I: Donghyuk gains weight easily.
Donghyuk: I do. The other members never gain weight; it’s just me…… It’s really a shame. Anyway, B.I’s charm is that he’s the most leaderly of all the leaders I’ve ever seen. I still remember everything B.I’s told me since our trainee days. Also, the fact that hyung is completely different in work and life is also charming.
He’s completely different when he’s on and off, isn’t he?
Donghyuk: That is correct. When he’s working he’s 100% in work mode, but when he’s done with work, he really turns into a doofus. But he definitely has no idea that he’s being dumb (laughs).
If the two of you were to form a unit, what kind of concept and name would you have?
B.I: We’ve never really talked much about unit activities, but I think it would be a good unit. Donghyuk and I are a singer and rapper, so I think we could do something hip hop.
Donghyuk: I love dancing, so if I worked with B.I-hyung then I think it would be good to add more performative aspects.
And your unit name?
Donghyuk: How’s B.D?
B.I: B.D huh (laughs).

You two have been like brothers since you were trainees. Please tell us what about B.I makes him seem like an older brother and what about Donghyuk makes him seem like a younger brother.
B.I: When we were doing the survival battle show MIX & MATCH, there was a time when I got worried about Donghyuk. Like I even cried…… If I really think about it, it wasn’t something I had to cry about, but Donghyuk was still young and naïve, so I got worried. Donghyuk always listened to me the best out of all the younger members, so I think that’s probably why my love just burst out and turned into worry.
And what about B.I is most like an older brother?
Donghyuk: B.I-hyung was more like an older brother when we were trainees. He taught me a lot of things and scolded me and stuff. But after we debuted, he became a different kind of older brother. I think we can discuss our problems together now. So I think the distance between us has gotten smaller.

When do you think Yunhyeong and Donghyuk look close?
They’re like real brothers. Donghyuk sucks up to Yunhyeong, clinging to him and going like “let’s do something together~” but Yunhyeong is like “stop it~” like he doesn’t like it but looks happy. When I see them, I think they’re cute (laughs). Donghyuk sucks up to the other members like that too, but it seems like Yunhyeong is the easiest to be spoiled by.
What were your impressions of each other when you first met?
Yunhyeong: Donghyuk was…… heehee.
Donghyuk: Why are you laughing??
Yunhyeong: Because we first met when I was doing laundry at the dorm. I thought that if he were a smart kid, he’d help me, but Donghyuk was lying down in the living room and watching TV (laughs). I still remember that.

Yunhyeong: Donghyuk has a flexible personality that allows him to adapt to any environment he’s in.
Donghyuk: Yunhyeong-hyung really pays attention to detail. For example, in my case, I’m a stereotypical O-type so I’ll forget things or not notice things, and Yunhyeong-hyung helps me out.
Yunhyeong: Is that a charm?
Donghyuk: It is. You’re able to do everything in life the way you planned, not just work.
If the two of you were to become a unit, what would your concept and unit name be?
Donghyuk: I like R&B and hip hop but…… If it were me and Yunhyeong-hyung, then I think a ballad would be good. Yunhyeong-hyung has a really clear voice, so I want us to try singing a really Korean song like from a drama OST. I think I’d be able to do fun stuff working with Yunhyeong-hyung.
Yunhyeong: But since you’re good at dancing, wouldn’t a dance number be good too?
What would your unit name be?
Donghyuk: We have a name from when we did a radio broadcast! It’s “Yunhyuk” (laughs). This is actually our manager’s name.
Fans say that the two of you are connected by a friendship from having overcome hardships together. What kind of hardships did you experience?
Yunhyeong: We struggled, didn’t we? It wasn’t just the two of us–there was Junhoe too–but we were all on the survival program MIX & MATCH together, so I think our bonds got stronger through that.
Donghyuk: Back then, every day, we were evaluated, dropped–there were things that you couldn’t even imagine.
Yunhyeong: Although I think there were bad things about that time, we were in the spotlight, and I think it’s the reason we were able to get to an even brighter place. It was a chance for fans to be able to accept all of us.
Do the two of you have any funny stories?
Yunhyeong: It’s not really a story but…… I really love Donghyuk a lot, but I tease him a lot too (laughs). It’s really funny.
Donghyuk: At first it was really rough. If you get teased a lot you get irritated, right, but lately I’ve gotten totally used to it. Cuz I understand now it’s just how the hyungs show affection. Our group only has A- and O-types, so I think this is the only way we know how to show affection (laughs).
How unusual [to have only A- and O-types]!
Donghyuk: Right? Me and B.I-hyung and Bobby-hyung are the O-types.
Yunhyeong: Is there a connection (laughs)
Donghyuk: There is. Lately when I get made fun of, even I laugh without thinking.
Yunhyeong: For example…… From more recent stuff, Donghyuk has gotten really buff and manly so we mess around with him, going like “If Donghyuk kicks the ball it’ll explode!” (laughs)

When do you think Yunhyeong and Chanwoo look close?
The two of them are always telling jokes and messing around. Even though they’re like “I don’t like you, I don’t like you,” they actually worry about each other the most. If one of them isn’t around, the other is like “huh, where’d he go?” and immediately starts searching for him (laughs).
What were your impressions of each other when you first met?
Yunhyeong: I thought Chanwoo looked like me (laughs). Like we’ve got a common ancestor.
Chanwoo: Yeah, when we first met I said that we looked alike. But in my heart I was like “no we don’t~” (laughs).
Yunhyeong: I complimented you–said you were attractive!
Chanwoo: I get it (laughs). B.I-hyung and Junhoe had walls up so it was hard to get close to them, but Yunhyeong-hyung came up to me going “we look alike~” and even shook my hand. I was so happy.
And what are each other’s charms?
Yunhyeong: If Chanwoo’s around, it’s never boring. He plays jokes on the hyungs. Sometimes I get annoyed though (laughs). But he’s really got a good heart, and he thinks about the other members the most. We live together so we don’t usually message each other, but even so, Chanwoo will message the hyungs saying stuff like “Have you already eaten?”
Chanwoo: Yunhyeong’s charm is that he’s kind. He’s seriously so nice. He worries about what the staff is eating, and if we have healthy food, he divides it up and gives it to everyone. I think that’s charming.
If the two of you were to work together as a unit, what would your concept and unit name be?
Yunhyeong: We can’t decide right away on what the two of us can do in detail, but if we were to do something together, I think it’d be fun.
Chanwoo: Even among fans we have a good boy image, so I’m really happy about that. But I want to make our name “Twin Monsters” (laughs).
Please tell us a secret that you know about each other.
Chanwoo: A secret, huh…… Do we have any secrets?
Yunhyeong: Chanwoo, unlike what I had imagined, does not clean his room.
Chanwoo: No, no. I have some problems with this answer. Yes, Yunhyeong-hyung is the neatest out of all of us. But I also like things to be clean, and I think I’d be about third place for neatness out of all the members. But if you compare me to Yunhyeong-hyung…… that’s……
Yunhyeong: I am Chanwoo’s roommate.
Chanwoo: But I’m Bobby’s roommate in hotels, and I clean up everything!
Yunhyeong: Yeah, well. Bobby never cleans up anyway.

Yunhyeong: Our eyes I suppose. Our big, double-lidded eyes. I think that’s probably the biggest reason why fans think we look similar.
Chanwoo: Rather than our eyes or something specific, but I think we give off similar vibes. There are people who mix us up, but it seems like more than our physical appearances or hair styles or something, people mix us up because of our vibes.
Your personalities aren’t similar?
Chanwoo: Our personalities are completely different.
Yunhyeong: They’re different, but I feel like some things are similar. For example, both of us are good kids. I’m gonna say it myself, but–we’re both good, nice kids! (laughs)

What were your first impressions of each other?
Chanwoo: Your first impression of me wasn’t that great, right?
Jinhwan: Why? Did you have a bad one of me? I thought Chanwoo was attractive though. That’s why after that I said that you should be our team’s visual, right?
Chanwoo: Did you?
Jinhwan: Yeah. But, yeah–when we first met it wasn’t really at a time when I could welcome you that much. Since we had to do survival battles after that.
Chanwoo: I…… Actually, I couldn’t get that close to Jinhwan-hyung until after the show ended. During the show I was never on the same team as Jinhwan-hyung either so we didn’t have a lot of chances to talk…… So he was the hyung who was difficult to get close to.
And now?
Jinhwan: Now I’m the hyung you treat most lightly, right?
Chanwoo: No, that isn’t true~
Jinhwan: We’ve really gotten a lot closer.
If the two of you were going to work together as a unit, what kind of concept and name would you have?
Chanwoo: Me and Yunhyeong-hyung decided on a twin concept!
Jinhwan: Hou. In that case, let’s do a tall/short concept. I think that way we can show off our charms. Also, Chanwoo and I are both cute (serious face). I think a fresh, sweet song would be good.
Chanwoo: Right……(laughs) Personally, like, singing is fine, but I want us to go on a variety show. I think it’d be funny if the two of us went on a trip or something.
Where would you go?
Chanwoo: Camping seems like it’d be good. We’ve already been to the beach……
Jinhwan: Let’s go to Europe. Backpacking. Seems fun, right?
Chanwoo: I-I guess……
Please tell us a secret you know about each other.
Chanwoo: Jinhwan-hyung has very weak skin, so whenever he gets injured, his scars don’t really go away.
Jinhwan: I scar easily.
Chanwoo: It’s a secret.
Jinhwan: But you said it (laughs).
Chanwoo: I don’t have any secrets.
Jinhwan: Chanwoo is not as innocent as all of you think.
Chanwoo: I confess.
But you said you were innocent earlier……
Chanwoo: No like, a lot of people see me as pure and innocent.
Jinhwan: But he knows a lot of things. He’s got innocent characteristics, of course, but Chanwoo is more grown up than everyone thinks.
Based on age Chanwoo is the magnae and Jinhwan is the mathyung, but looking at the way the two of you interact, it seems like you have a friendship that transcends age. Even though your ages are different, what do you think is the reason you get along?
Jinhwan: The reason is……
Chanwoo: (interrupts) It’s thanks to Jinhwan hyung.
Jinhwan: That’s right. It’s thanks to Jinhwan (serious face).
Chanwoo: I’m usually more careful around the younger hyungs like Bobby-hyung than I am around Jinhwan-hyung. Of course I’m careful around Jinhwan-hyung too, but I think he makes the atmosphere around him more relaxed.
Jinhwan: Also, Chanwoo is cute and he accepts me, so that helps.
Chanwoo: Oh~ (the two of them shake hands firmly) In that case, should we be friends* from now on?
Jinhwan: Um no.
Chanwoo: Eh~ (laughs)
*When Chanwoo says “friends,” he means the chingu relationship that people have if they are the same age in Korea. What Chanwoo is asking is if he and Jinhwan can be chingu and interact as if they were the same age rather than continue with the hyung/dongsaeng dynamic that they have. “I don’t wanna do the interview with Junhoe!”–a sudden breakup declaration?! The back-and-forth between tsun Jinhwan and dere Junhoe* is a must-see!
*Tsun refers to tsuntsun (aloof, cold) and dere refers to deredere (warm, lovey-dovey, lovestruck), and both are a reference to the tsundere love trope (cold on the outside, lovey-dovey on the inside). Basically, the magazine is saying that Jinhwan acts mean but he’s really in love and that Junhoe is just heart eyes emoji.

When do you think Jinhwan and Junhoe look close?
They really look like they get along well. The music they wanna do is similar too. Jinhwan likes R&B and Junhoe likes blues, but I feel like they can find a good compromise in the middle. These two have the most deep talks!
Please tell us your first impressions of each other and what each other’s charms are.
Jinhwan: My first impression of Junhoe was not good.
Junhoe: Yeah that’s true.
Jinhwan: When I first met Junhoe, he pretended to be a good kid. He pretended to be a naïve kid who didn’t know anything. So I thought, “Since this kid doesn’t know anything, I have to do my best to support him.” But in actuality, he already knew everything about singing–he knew everything about pretty much everything.
Junhoe: Ahahahahaha (hysterical laughter). I didn’t really like you either. But I was young so I don’t really remember.
Jinhwan: Back then, there were three of us including me already there, but apparently you thought Bobby was the coolest. And you thought I was the ugliest.
Junhoe: That’s not true. I thought you seemed nice~ And B.I-hyung, like……I thought he was like a monkey.
Jinhwan: Fufufu.
And your charms?
Jinhwan: Junhoe’s charm–well first of all he’s attractive and has a manly image, but inside it’s like there’s a little kid. He’s really funny to talk to.
Junhoe: A lot of people depend on Jinhwan. Jinhwan is nice to girls, but in front of us he gets kind of mean……
Jinhwan: Wait a minute. Is that a charm?
Junhoe: Because we’re close……
Jinhwan: I don’t wanna do the interview with this kid. I don’t think it will be good for me.
Junhoe: Okay, okay, please calm down (laughs).
If the two of you were to form a unit, what would your concept and name be?
Jinhwan: I won’t do it.
Junhoe: (smoothly) If we were to have unit activities, since our voices are so different, I think we would be able to show a lot of different things.
Jinhwan: (nodding) There are a lot of different colors we haven’t be able to show you as iKON yet. I think we can show them through a duet. And, yes, even though our voices are different, we have the same sense, so I think that would also be appealing.
Please tell us a secret you know about each other.
Jinhwan: How far can we go? Are we allowed to talk about anything?
Junhoe: What exactly do you want to say? (laughs)

Jinhwan: In that case…… Sometimes, Junhoe cries in bed.
Junhoe: I do not.

Junhoe: Ah…… I raaarely do.

Junhoe: I’m quite sensitive, so I cry just from listening to good songs. Like sad songs and stuff. Now then, Jinhwan’s secret is…… (after a dramatic pause) he says a lot of mean things about people!
Jinhwan: This is an NG! This’ll be bad if it ends up in the magazine!
Junhoe: Ahahahaha (laughs). Okay I’ll say something else (laughs). Jinhwan has no secrets. What you see is what you get.
The two of you are said to be particularly close within iKON. When did you become close? During MIX & MATCH when you were in Japan, you two went to the aquarium and an amusement park, but do you usually hang out together?
Jinhwan: When we go abroad, we almost always share a hotel room. Since Junhoe and I are both the type to stay up late. Also, Junhoe likes to listen to music while he sleeps, and there are members who don’t like that. But I also like listening to music while I sleep…… And the two of us go on walks or go to cafes and stuff.
Junhoe: Yes. But the amusement park, we only went there because of filming.
Jinhwan: If it weren’t for filming, wouldn’t it be weird for the two of us to go to an amusement park? (laughs)

When do you think Bobby and Junhoe look close?
I’ve never really seen them together (laughs). Junhoe is usually with Jinhwan. Since the two of them get along. Bobby likes being by himself. I hang out with various members!
Please tell us your first impressions of each other and each other’s charms.
Junhoe: I thought Bobby was really cool.
Bobby: Ohh! I also thought Junhoe was really cool when I first saw him. Also, his clothes were quite impactful.
Junhoe: Hahaha (laughs).
Bobby: Cuz he liked gaudy clothes when he was a kid (laughs). His purple t-shirt and bright red pants and green sneakers left quite an impression.
Junhoe: Hahaha (laughs). I was definitely a fashion terrorist!
Bobby: I’ll never forget it (laughs).
And each other’s charms?
Bobby: I think Junhoe’s charm is, as you might expect, his voice. If you listen to his voice, you know immediately that it’s him.
Junhoe: Mine is a bit similar but I think Bobby’s rap style is charming. I think he has a rap style unique to him.
If the two of you were to work together as a unit, what kind of concept and name would you have?
Bobby: We’re both interested in black music and culture, so I think a bit of a sad–or like, a dark song would be good. And since both of us have deep voices, I think it’d work well.
Junhoe: I agree. I want us to do something cool. Also, when we actually have unit activities, we will tell you our unit name at that time!
Please tell us a secret you know about each other.
Bobby: But if we tell you then it won’t be a secret anymore……
Junhoe: Please go with something light.
Bobby: In that case–it’s not really a secret, but Junhoe passionately sings everywhere all the time. In the shower, in the toilet, in the dressing room…… He really doesn’t care where he is and just sings enthusiastically.
Junhoe: It’s true (laughs). I’m always singing. Bobby is usually just like how he is on TV…… Is there some secret that no one knows?
Bobby: Probably not (laughs).
Junhoe: He’s always natural, so even if he has secrets, I probably just don’t know about them (laughs).
Bobby: True. I sleep talk!
Junhoe: Thanks for exposing yourself on your own (laughs).
Bobby said that he wants to try working together with Junhoe, and the two of you recognize each other’s talents, but have you always been that way? What do you respect about each other?
Bobby: First of all, I said this earlier too, but I believe that Junhoe’s unique voice is a powerful weapon, and I feel that the way he listens to music more than anything and finds new to music to be amazing.
Junhoe: Thank you! The thing I respect about Bobby is that he’s always quick to get on what’s currently in style. Style, music–he’s always on trend so I really learn a lot.
It seems like the two of you are always listening to music, but do you listen to Japanese music as well?
Bobby: Of course. Lately I’ve been listening to Sekai no Owari a lot. I think the pianist is really good. The melodies are also really nice, so you just get lost in the music.
Junhoe: For me–well, rather than me liking it, my older sister liked NEWS so I’ve listened to them for a long time! Also, I’ve liked Hamasaki Ayumi and other big names in J-pop for a long time. So nostalgic!

iKON Photoshoot Backstage Spy Report
iKON made their first appearance on the cover of K-Boy this time. We met with them on their Japan tour. The interviews were in eight minute intervals. The interviews went at such a good pace that even Bobby was impressed and said, “Frikkin awesome!” We got a “frikkin awesome!” from Bobby!! In our hearts we unconsciously shouted “azassu!”* (laughs)~ We’ll give you just a little bit of BTS info from our interviews.
*”Azassu” is a shortened form of “arigatou gozaimasu,” which means “thank you.” (So “azassu” is more like “thanks.”) Bobby said earlier in the interview (the group one) that this is a Japanese word that he likes and uses often, so the magazine is referencing that.

During the interview B.I was just staring off in the distance. The staff was overwhelmed by his gaze. But when the staff told him he looked like a model and a prodigy, he looked extremely embarrassed. We were graced by the presence of the most powerful tsundere (t/n: someone who seems aloof/cold but is actually warm on the inside).
The two healing members [Donghyuk & Yunhyeong] showing a full display of their healing auras! But they got super pumped when they talked about teasing each other during the interview.
During the interview they had their arms around each other’s shoulders and were holding hands. Yunhyeong and Chanwoo were chummy from start to finish.

Yunhyeong said, “Me and Jinhwan and Chanwoo often go to cafes together.” The reason why: “The other members can’t be bothered and don’t like going out for coffee and stuff. Even though they’re young!!” he said, grinning.
Bobby and B.I, who said they’re almost never alone together. But during the break they were sitting on the sofa, chatting away happily.

Bobby, whose solo shoot ended early so he was waiting for his turn for his solo interview. He was cheerfully eating potato chips during the break♪ When he was called over for his solo interview, he brought his bag of chips to the interviewer with a smile. The interviewer told him he could do the interview while eating, and Bobby was all smiles. “Really? But I’ll eat them when we’re done!” he said as he switched to work mode.
Although he gives off the air of a hyung, mathyung Jinhwan is often teased. It’s proof that everyone loves him.
During the shoot Jinhwan was in a super great mood♪ We got a shot we know you’ll love so we’re sharing it with all iKONICs.

B.I called Donghyuk over in a super loud voice during the break before their crosstalk. “Kim Donghyuuuk!!” That was the loudest voice we heard today (laughs).

Chanwoo, who said in his solo interview that he used to not spend much time with Jinhwan. But when they filmed KONY’S SUMMERTIME in Saipan, the two of them were always together and apparently got close quickly. But there is definitely a very jealous kid around, isn’t there…… (laughs).
During his solo interview when we asked when he thinks Jinhwan and Chanwoo seem close, Junhoe complained(?), jealously saying, “We’re all close; why are you suddenly asking about Jinhwan and Chanwoo?!” We didn’t mean to make you jealous…… sorry, sorry.
When we showed everyone the K-BOY issue with Winner on the cover before the shoot, everyone got super hype. They were fixated on it (laughs).

Donghyuk, who enthusiastically read the previous issue of K-BOY we gave him as a sample before the group interview. So quiet……or so we thought–when he talked about hoodies during his solo interview, he got way pumped! Did Donghyuk’s love of hoodies reach you?
Bobby and Junhoe, who have an awkward relationship(?). Even the Korean staff was telling them to get closer. But when Junhoe was doing his solo shoot, Bobby was monitoring him closely!

Jinhwan, Junhoe, Chanwoo, and their manager were playing basketball outside the studio before the interview. Everyone looked so friendly. Even though their concert had just finished, everyone was energetic!
How iKON spent their time before the interview
The first one to enter the studio thirty minutes before the interview started was Yunhyeong. We didn’t even have the time to fangirl over Yunhyeong’s greeting the staff with a smile before B.I coolly and charismatically made his appearance. After a while we started wondering if the other members wouldn’t come, so we went outside and found Jinhwan, Junhoe, Chanwoo, and their manager engrossed in a basketball game. At the table next to them Bobby and Donghyuk were chatting happily♪ “Are they doing their crosstalk early?!” we thought, but Bobby and Donghyuk didn’t do a crosstalk together. We apologize to all iKONICs who were looking forward to it. I wonder if the two of them have made plans to visit Hawaii……? (←Definitely not). And now on to a different topic, but we were actually worried about the pairings for the crosstalks until just before they started. Were the pairs you wanted to see there, iKONICs?

I believe in everlasting love.
“The things I value above all in life are trust, hope, and love!” There’s giggling from Bobby and Yunhyeong at the frank words. “No, I’m totally serious. Out of everything, love is most important. There are people that say “nothing lasts forever”, but for me, I’m hoping there’s such a thing. I believe in everlasting love.” Ordinarily as leader, B.I is in the position of giving encouragement to the members. Consequently, with women, “When it’s just the two of us, I want her to let me dote on her, and I’ll be happy if she gently encourages me when I become weak. I’m a difficult type, so… (laughs)”
Bobby
I think women who are emotionally honest and are their true selves are lovely.
“I’m happy if a woman puts effort into being pretty for me, but showing your true face in front of your lover is more important. Express your emotions honestly, I want you to be your true self. And even if you’ve been hurt by love, if you can get over the painful times, you’ll become stronger so don’t worry.” What wounds Bobby is…”Lies. When I get tired, my heart aches…so for that reason, I trust the woman entirely.” You’re famous for having a messy room? “I don’t like a messy room either. But cleaning is troublesome, and I dislike it more (laughs). That’s why I’m attracted to women who are good at cleaning.”

In love, an inquiring mind towards your partner is essential.
Jinhwan, who can effortlessly say smooth pickup lines to make a woman’s heart attracted to him.”If you want to have a good relationship, I think an “adapt to me” kind of attitude is wrong. For example, if I barely get a reply even when I’ve been contacting them a lot, I’ll figure out they’re that kind of person and I’ll adapt to them. Because I’m the type to study what my partner wants. I think guys are usually like this, but when I’m with other people, I want to take initiative like a manly guy.” In eldest member fashion, his words for women who have been hurt by love are also deep. “A wound inflicted by love can only be cured by love.”
Yunhyeong
If you happen to meet each other spontaneously, that’s an ideal love.
“I don’t think looking for true love is something you can force. Happening to meet the one you love naturally is ideal. But fate won’t bless you if you just wait around, it’s also important to actively go out and meet lots of people. I already happened to meet lots of people…iKONICs!” He has two prescriptions for girls who have been hurt by love. “One is patiently waiting for time to pass. The other is meeting a new guy. I’m the type to wait for time to heal me.” Yunhyeong, whose strong point is cooking. As expected, rather than receiving something made for him, “I want to make something for the person I love.”

Making an effort to understand each other is an absolute requirement for a long-lasting relationship.
“For relationship to last a long time, mutual understanding is important,” He emphasized. “Around the beginning of a relationship, it’s natural to try to understand each other. But as time goes by, you start to make less of an effort. That’s why things get bad. When I connect with someone I’m always thinking about what kinds of things will happen, when and where, things nobody can predict. Love is the same. Imagine a great future and do your best. Cheating is a no go. It’s natural for an attractive woman to be popular, doing things like talking and smiling at men, up to that point is okay. But if you keep in contact (with another man), it’s over.”

True love is not caring about things like appearance.
iKON’s fashion leader, Donghyuk. “For women, I’d like them to try their best with makeup and being stylish. But if it’s the person I like, I’ll see them as cute whatever their appearance is. A person who’s skilled at cooking and housework is good. I want to try the home cooking of the person I love!”In love, cheating is taboo. “If they tell me beforehand there’s some leeway, but if they were meeting up with a side guy, at that time…(cries)” He also said being assertive is important. “To increase your chances, it’s better to take initiative to go out and meet someone. If we get the chance to meet, I’ll smile a lot and want to stay by their side.”

Waiting for love? Your turn is next!
In iKON, lots of the members are in the “it’s better to actively go out looking for encounters" camp, but Chanwoo has a different opinion. “I don’t think you’ll necessarily find a good relationship just because you look really hard. If you wait for a great person to appear, your turn will certainly come. Don’t want to wait anymore? Try going to Korea. There are lots of cool guys there.” So, what do you want in a romantic partner? “Keep promises. Just once would be excusable, but if you break promises over and over I’d have to think about breaking up. And there’s one more thing. Because I’m a minor, women who drink alcohol are kind of…(laughs)”
