Q. Firstly, please tell us about the charms of your album <WELCOME BACK>?
B.I: We wanted to present a wide variety of musical styles and genres we think only iKON will be capable of doing and after trying and improving and trying, the album was completed. Thought I thought of describing it as we conveyed all of what we wanted to say through our songs, I’ll be greedier.*laughs* We put our 100% into this, but I think we wanted to make music which would make people want to listen to us and for the debut album to become one of meaning. We also put in the feelings we received from the fans who’ve waited for us. So, we used the meaning of welcoming in our title <WELCOME BACK>.
Q. From the uptempo songs to the ballads in the album, pick your best 3?
B.I: The slow R&B number that conveys one’s feelings to a lover who’s leaving, <APOLOGY>, the hip-hop track that displays iKON’s roots, <RHYTHM TA>, also our debut track and a mid-tempo number, <MY TYPE>. It’s these 3 songs!
Q. B.I & Bobby compose lyrics and songs, are there any interesting episodes that you remember ?
Bobby: We participated in the lyrics for all the songs in the album. For the JP version of <RHYTHM TA> there was part that went” If you’re going to regret (…) this kind of feeling; regret”. The pronunciation for this was really quite hard. Smoothly rapping this part was really hard.
B.I: Although I can’t exactly remember an especially interesting episode *laughs* as I thought <RHYTHM TA> left an impression on me. Personally I had an image/vision of what I wanted the song to be like, but it took more time than what I expected to craft in that way. There were countless modifications to make and this track took 1 year to complete so it left strong memory for me.
Q. iKON just debuted but you’re standing on the same line with many groups of the same generation. The reason for that would be emotional power of your songs and high level dances. Although iKON has many charms, to the members, what do you think is your best charm right now ?
B.I: We’re still young so there hasn’t been long after we debuted. Actually we are still lacking in many areas. But also those imperfections give something fresh and fun. While we’re young we want to show you more, we have a hungry spirit. Our reckless/fresh performances and on top of that each of the members’ mischief. *laughs* I would think that those are probably iKON’s charms. Also the strength of our teamwork. We talk a lot of insignificant things, it has become that as we play around we don’t stop laughing. Anyway, we have good friendship and teamwork.
Q. You went through a lot of trials and hardships before you debuted. Now that you’ve debuted, what are your strongest thoughts ?
Jinhwan: In WIN: Who Is Next, when we lost to TEAM A (who is now WINNER) there were really a lot of regrets. But as time passed we turned those regrets into energy and we only thought of doing our best. Time heals everything. After that through MIX & MATCH our debut was decided and I was excited! Now standing on stage is what makes me the happiest. Having a lot of people watch us perform makes me feel really blessed.
B.I: Till our debut, during that time when we made songs, dances or performances we wanted to do our best. Our goal was to become the best in the music world!
Q. How was promoting in Japan ?
B.I: It was interesting! Sometimes due to the language barrier there were interesting moments…
Donghyuk: In response to our clumsy Japanese the fans have interesting reactions *laughs*. Whatever we say in Japanese, even if we speak it haltingly everyone cheers on us with “Kya~”. That makes it fun for us. The fans in Japan have amazing aegyo and are charming.
Jinhwan: Japan also has delicious food! *laughs*
Chanwoo: Charcoal-grilled food for example!
B.I: I like beef. I also like sushi!
Bobbby: Also, udon! *laughs*
Yunhyeong: The members also have a favorite steak house, which we frequent visit when we’re here.
Everyone: We like it! *laughs*
Q. When this magazine is released, you will also be in the midst of your Japan Tour. What does that mean to you ?
B.I: During our fanmeets we will brush up in areas where we’re lacking, so please look forward to a more matures us. To give you cooler performances all the members are working hard to prepare.
Bobby: From here on we’ll have a lot to show you and more new music, so please enjoy it!
Q. What kind of year do you want 2016 to be and what are your individual goals ?
B.I: We want to quickly make our next album. If we can do that we can also return to Japan faster and show it to the fans. But for now the goal is a dome tour~!
June: The dream is big! *laughs*
Donghyuk: For me it’s also a dome tour!
Yunhyeong: My goal is to further study Japanese and to better communicate with the fans.
Jinhwan: To become healthier and happier.
June: To become an artist loved by many in Japan
Bobby: I want to mature and appeal to more people with a cooler side and more of my own charms.
Chanwoo: With the release of this debut album I want to perform in front of more people.

Bobby: Though B.I & I are “in charge” of composing lyrics, as I composed more and more I came to like it. No matter how much time passes while fulfilling my dream, making lyrics and freely living even if it may be hard and even if it may be tedious, I will enjoy life simply. Although <CLIMAX> has been released for 3 years, at that time it contained our sincere feeling of wanting to fulfill our dreams. Even when I listen to it now, something warm rises within me.

Bobby: A date ? (If it’s approximately 10000 yen) [1]. Meals~ah~ where to go ? A restaurant nearby? *laughs* For girls, I like it when they wears white snapback and parka. Also because I like girls who wear denim or have a more pants-kind-of-style. If I met a girl for the first time who’s wearing something like denim, I think I’d go “Oh~!”.

Donghyuk: The lead tack of our debut album <RHYTHM TA> took 2 years to complete from start to finish. Thanks to B.I’s countless modification it became a good track! Even the members who listened to the complete track commented “This is perfect for us!”~ If we are talking about songs we produced 2 years ago then it’d be <JUST ANOTHER BOY>! It was produced in the winter and listening to it really brings back memories from that time.

Donghyuk: Recently I bought a dark dark grey knit and back pants. Because I have an interest in fashion, for girls I also notice their dressing first! If it’s spring, it’s cute if they wear yellow or sky blue~ As for the clothing, things like dresses or skirts are good. For a date in the spring, it’d be carrying a bento, admiring the sakura blossoms and having a picnic! And probably watching a movie after that ?

B.I: The song <TODAY> was written in a spring time. While reading manga I started to want to write a song that would give off good vibes of someone with butterflies in their stomach. From friends to become lovers… I put that kind of feeling into lyrics. The hardest time was after WIN ended. As iKON being able to debut in Korea and perform live made me really happy.

B.I: Although I like knitwear/clothing with a loose feel on girls, I’m a weak person *laughs*. A date where the budget is around 10000 yen? Watching a movie and having meal at the cafe on the way home. And if it’s a special occasion then going to the seaside or the theme park. I’d like to see a girl wearing a cardigan for me…*while looking through Cancam* But I’m also okay with and like simple style like this! Because I haven’t gone on date before I’d really like to try~.

Yunhyeong: During our first release as iKON, <MY TYPE> whether it was MV shooting or recording I had a feeling of newly entering the world. My heart was fluttering. Before our debut much time passed and the fans waited for us ans warmly supported us…And so without knowing it I cried during our last fanmeet in Japan.

Yunhyeong: I like girls with skirt-styles, but not really styles which expose a lot, like mini-skirts…! If it’s spring, I like combination of blue or yellow with jeans on girls. If the budget of a date is 10000 yen, before the date I search up cheap but delicious food places and shops on blogs and then go with my girlfriend to these places. I’d like to eat ice-cream at the park.

Chanwoo: In <APOLOGY> where you get to see our mainly sides, it’s a song that left amazing impression on me. Also <SINOSIJAK> which is also included in the album, while being released at the fanmeet really made me think “We can become one with our fans.” Singing this made me feel at peace. As iKON embarks on our tour we will grow more and more!

Chanwoo: More than denim, I’m more of someone who prefers dress styles. I also like girly styles and straight hair but I’m more attracted to the color than style *laughs* As for the length…I don’t really care about that! For a date in a spring, waking as a couple under flowers blossoms..and watching a romantic movie after. I hope a girl comes to me in a white dress~

Jinhwan: Previously we had the chance to be with BIGBANG on their dome tour and after the experience of performing on such a big stage, we are no longer overly nervous now. Although our tour in Japan just started the kind of performance we want to give is one that will make you want to come back after watching one. In the midst of the tour I’d like to try going to a hot spring with the members and then getting 1st place at karaoke booth *laughs*.

Jinhwan: At the 1st meeting I’m attracted to a girl with a cute smile. When her make up isn’t too thick and her hair is long, that makes me happy. If it’s a date in a spring (around 10000 yen), although I’d really like to go to a hot spring…because it’s not within the budget then I’d go to the seaside! *laughs* Ideally, it’d be driving together to the seaside, but I can’t drive…I’d like for us to stroll together by the seaside. Also I hope a girl would wear floral-print dress for me.

Q: Talk about a member with only what you know of him!
BOBBY: From me! When Jinhwan gives praise my mood becomes good!
JINHWAN: Of course. Together with everyone. So it's like this ’laughs‘.
BOBBY: When my mood is good I approach. But when my mood isn‘t good...it's okay to be left alone ‘laughs‘. But it's about consciously praising each other! To improve relationships between human beings it's essential! Praising someone like this: Jinhwan~! You're cool~!
JINHWAN: (looks at Bobby with a hesitant expression). Okay, next! ‘laughs’
YUNHYEONG: During recording, B.l gets angry when you don‘ t think positively. B.l sets the mood, and you won't fail to see his hardworking behavior. But this is only natural, since B.I is producing!
DONGHYUK: Junhoe is bad at adhering to time, and acts freely, so we have to give him free time as a leeway. For him it's bad to rush/panic. But we‘re all used to it ’laughs’.
JUNHOE: But when i'm fast, I'm very fast! I sleep really early!
Q: On the other hand, who's strict about time?
BOBBY: Yunhyeong is!
YUNHYEONG: Promises/fixed dates are important! I keep to them!
Q: Yunhyeong...really has proper behavior ‘cries‘
JUNHOE: That’s why, in the team, Yunhyeong and l are strict about it!
B.l: Junhoe isn't strict with time!
Q: Fufufu ’laughs‘
B.l: Yunhyeong likes to mess around with others but doesn't like being teased himself.
JINHWAN: Chanwoo is serious but he likes to look for trouble. He does different things to the hyungs.
Q: For example?
JINHWAN: Mm...| can‘t remember...Sorry ‘laughs‘
B.l: Although we can't remember, he definitely did things!
JUNHOE: Donghyuk doesn’t really let it show when he's in a bad mood, since he's always smiling. But when there's food in front of him his mood becomes better.
DONGHYUK: Yes. that' s right! I like eating.
Q: To have such a mood is a good thing! Who is the most mentally strong and calm in your team?
B.l: Donghyuk.
Q: Then. who is the most emotional?
BOBBY: Jinhwan is.
Q: This is like a tsundere feel ’laughs’. Then, Chanwoo please!
CHANWOO: Bobby seems like he likes one person. Also, he doesn't like it when the mischief goes overboard (i‘m assuming Chanwoo is joking with the 1st sentence hence he says this).
BOBBY: We get along don‘t we?

BOBBY: Though we just debuted, we will continue maturing. We hope we'll get much care and support!
